Recently, Toyota attended the JP Morgan Auto Conference (August 12-13) where senior vice president, Bob Carter, announced a very lofty goal; Boost sales in the US by 100,000 for the 2014 calendar year. If successful, this would be a 4.5% lift over last year when they delivered a total of 2.2 million vehicles.

Early reports suggest they are on pace to hit this goal after reporting a 5% gain through the first half of 2014. Part of their success can be attributed to the new Toyota Highlander, which saw a 17% lift in sales through the first six months of the year. The Toyota RAV4 also had a very successful first half of 2014 with a 15% boost in sales. Bob Carter also went on to say the Camry is the best-selling mid-sized sedan in the country while the Corolla tops the compact car category.
