Since the Toyota Camry was introduced into the new Toyota lineup in 1983, Toyota Motor Corp. has created an entirely new version every five or six years. Although various modifications and enhancements are made every single year, a full refresh happens on a less frequent basis.
This time, however, Toyota will be making significant changes to their flagship sedan just three years after the seventh generation Camry was introduced. CEO Akio Toyoda recently announced they want to "make better cars" and with about 2,000 new parts to enhance the interior and exterior of the new Camry, this is certainly a step in the right direction. These updates are being made to help keep the Camry at the front of a very competitive midsize segment.
Bill Fay, group vice president of Toyota's U.S. sales organization had this to say about the midsize segment, "It's still the biggest segment in the U.S. market and very important to us."
Did you know that the Camry has been the No. 1 best-selling car in the U.S. for the last 12 years!?
