Arguably our favorite pick from the Corolla catalog, the mid-level LE Eco model has a whole lot going for itself. Coupling with a continuously variable transmission, its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine produces a peppy 140 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque.
Better still, it's also the most fuel-efficient Corolla engine. When had with 15-inch wheels, for example, the LE Eco is estimated to return a robust 34 mpg combined (30 city/40 highway).
